What is remarketing?

Remarketing is a strategy within online advertising whereby you show targeted advertisements to people who have previously visited your website. This could be websites within the Google Display Network, for example, but also YouTube videos or social media.

Think of someone who has just viewed a pair of shoes in your webshop. A little later, they are reading the news or scrolling through Instagram and suddenly see your advertisement with the same shoes again. As an internet user, you are undoubtedly familiar with this. We call this remarketing.
